Moved to Wilmette in 1965

All of my relatives were Swedish immigrants. They were textile workers and reindeer herders.

My immediate family moved to Wilmette in 1965. We lived around 5th and Linden and I loved how self-contained that area was — a drug store, a five-and-dime, a Jewel foods, clothing stores, a candy store, a barber, an interior design store, etc.! Though the nature of retail has changed, Wilmette is still a charming, closely knit community with lots to offer.

Fond Memories of Gillson Park

I lived in Wilmette for a short time in the early 80's with my husband and then-infant son. I have very fond memories of bike rides and picnics at Gillson Park. What a fabulous place!

Wilmette was a wonderful town in which to live and start our family. When I went back to visit recently, I was delighted to find that, although many things have changed with the times, the character of the community remains the same and is one of the things that sets Wilmette apart.
