Virtual Lecture - Discussing Daguerreotypes

Sunday, November 7, 2021
2:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Mike Medhurst, current President of The Daguerreian Society, will talk about early cased photography, exploring the history of the art form and giving a brief overview of how daguerreotypes are made. Mr. Medhurst will also share some captivating images from his own collection, diving into the stories of the scenes, people, and even animals captured in them. Actively collecting, buying and selling early American photography for more than 30 years, Mr. Medhurst was recently a guest on the PhotoDetective podcast discussing photography fakes and forgeries. Images acquired though him can be seen on display at noted museums such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Nelson-Atkins and the Library of Congress.
