Join Susan Benjamin, noted historic preservationist and architectural historian, for a discussion about her new book Modern in the Middle: Chicago Houses 1929-1975, which she co-authored with Michelangelo Sabatino from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Beautifully illustrated with many historic images, the book surveys over fifty houses in the Chicago area, including several from Wilmette. Ms. Benjamin’s talk will explore the substantial yet overlooked role that Chicago and its suburbs played in the development of the modern single family home in the twentieth century. All are welcome to register on the form below for this lecture which will be preceded by a brief annual meeting of the Wilmette Historical Society.
After you have completed and submitted the registration form, a confirmation will appear on the screen. We will send you an email with the Zoom link information in January.
