In honor of the recently designated Ouilmette North National Historic District, the Wilmette Historical Society and the Wilmette Historic Preservation Commission presented this first ever conference featuring media personality Bob Yapp. Yapp started the morning conference off with his entertaining keynote address, "Preservation Doesn't Cost—It Pays." Half of the conference attendees stayed with Yapp for his next presentation on "Old Windows Aren't a Pane...They're a Gold Mine," while other attendees sat in on "Tax Incentives for your National Historic District Home." After a break, the conference continued with presentations, "Additions that Work" or "Decorating the Arts and Crafts Interior" and concluded with an "Ask the Experts" panel. At the end of the day, more than 70 attendees walked away armed with new information on how to preserve and restore their home while appreciating its unique history.
