We offer a variety of exciting programs that highlight local history. The programs are especially designed for schools and local organizations.
Scheduling: To schedule a program, requests need to be made at least three weeks in advance. A desired date may not be available, so it is a good idea to have several alternative dates in mind when contacting the museum. Call (847) 853-7666 to make a request, or contact us online at museum@wilmette.com.
Fees: Fees for each program are listed after the program description. Advance payment is preferred. Checks should be made out to the Wilmette Historical Museum.
This program is designed to introduce young children (ages 4-6) to local history. Children learn about one of Wilmette’s first families, the Ouilmettes. The program includes a read-aloud story, a short museum tour, and a take-home project. Fee: $2/child.
Museum staff and expert volunteers offer illustrated lectures about local history and fashion history to schools and organizations. Please inquire about currently available topics. Lectures may be held at the museum or off-site, as scheduling allows. Fee: $100
Tour the museum with one of our expert guides. Learn about the history of the museum’s landmark building, the former Gross Point Village Hall, see the jails, and hear about the early settlers and the saloons of old Gross Point. Fee: $5/person; $2/person for students.
