Wilmette Community Concert Association

The Wilmette Community Concert Association offered its first campaign in 1947, bringing a series of classical music and dance concerts to the area through arrangements with Community Concerts, a division of Columbia Artists Management, Inc. of New York City. The Association was officially incorporated in August, 1948, and through the end of the 1960s, its concerts always sold out. Concert venues included Teatro del Lago for the first concert series, the Wilmette Junior High School auditorium, and later a movie theater in Evanston. By the 1970s, the concerts' popularity had diminished, and it became increasingly difficult to recruit workers. The organization eventually dissolved in the summer of 1985.
